WCCU extends Teacher Grant deadline to January 31st, 2021

Westerly Community Credit Union has extended their WCCU Teacher Grant application deadline to January 31, 2021. The extension is intended to provide eligible applicants with additional time to settle into the school year and assess their teaching needs, whether it be for in-person or remote learning. The Westerly Community Credit Union will be awarding $8,500 in grants, in values up to $500, for the upcoming 2020/21 school year. WCCU Teacher Grants are available to local Teachers, Administrators, or Staff from the following public-school districts: Chariho, Exeter-West Greenwich, Narragansett, North Stonington, South Kingstown, Stonington, and Westerly.
The Credit Union awards their grants annually to support creative and experiential educational projects or programs in the area’s school districts. Special consideration will be given to innovative projects that strengthen the relationship between our schools and the community at large, as well as to projects that support student excellence. All applications will be judged on the following criteria: Educational Focus, Promotion of Skills/Excellence, Creativity/Innovation, Community Connection, and Goal Clarity/Attainability.

We are pleased to offer teacher grants that enhance the overall educational experience especially during this very challenging time’, stated Steve White, WCCU President and CEO. ‘We feel this is a way to show our support and appreciation for their creativity and ongoing determination to help children succeed.’
Grant applications are available online at www.westerlyccu.com and must be submitted no later than January 31, 2021. Grants will be awarded by February 28, 2021.
