WCCU donates over $10,000 to Local High Schools' Sports Boosters!

The Westerly Community Credit Union (WCCU) brought the community together once again for the 2024 Annual Holiday Basketball Tournament—a beloved tradition that celebrates local athletes, supports school sports programs, and fosters school spirit. WCCU is proud to be the sole sponsor of this exciting event, with 100% of the proceeds going directly back to the participating schools’ sports boosters.
The tournament, held on December 26th, 27th, 28th, and 30th was a success, raising an impressive $10,065! Chariho, Stonington, South Kingstown, and Westerly High Schools’ Sports Boosters will each receive a check for $2,516.25 in recognition of their basketball teams’ hard work, determination, and participation. Since its inception in 1984, the tournament has raised an incredible $286,137 to support local sports programs.
“This tournament is more than just basketball; it’s about bringing our community together and investing in the future of our young athletes,” shared Steve White, WCCU President & CEO. “We’re thrilled with this year’s success and grateful to everyone who made it possible.”
