WCCU Announces Scholarship Award Recipients

The Westerly Community Credit Union Scholarship Committee recently awarded (4) $1,000 scholarships and (1) $1,500 scholarship to local students of Chariho, Coventry, Westerly and Mystic High Schools.
Jillian Octeau, of Westerly, was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union - Joseph N. Cugini Memorial Scholarship. The Joseph N. Cugini Memorial Scholarship is named on behalf of the Credit Union’s former president, CEO and Chairman of the Board, Joseph Cugini. Cugini retired in 2000 after 41 years of service to the Credit Union. Jillian will be attending the University of Rhode Island to pursue a degree in Nursing.
Bridget Fox, of Charlestown, was awarded the Westerly Community Credit Union - Robert M. Bewlay Memorial Scholarship. The Robert M. Bewlay Memorial Scholarship is named in honor of the Credit Union’s former Vice President, Robert M. Bewlay, for his 35 years of dedication and service to the Westerly Community Credit Union. Bridget will be attending the University of South Carolina to study Nursing.
Lauren Richard of Coventry and Molly Lebovitz of Mystic, CT were each awarded a Westerly Community Credit Union College Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a high school graduate attending a four-year college or university. Lauren will be attending Yale University to study Economics. Molly will be attending the University of Rhode Island to study Elementary Education.
Westerly Community Credit Union, a sponsor of The Credit Union College Scholarship Program, submitted 3 applicants for consideration. Ryan Scanapieco of Bradford, RI was selected to receive a Credit Union Scholarship award. Ryan will be attending Villanova to study Engineering.
The Westerly Community Credit Union Board of Directors and staff are proud to support these outstanding students with their post high school education.
